Cloudflare Web Analytics

Cloudflare Web Analytics is provided by Cloudflare, Inc., who also hosts this website. It measures page views, referrer sources, browser type, operating system, device type, and country-level location. Cloudflare processes this information at the network level without writing tracking cookies to your browser and without fingerprinting individual visitors. Data is processed under Cloudflare's existing role as the website's infrastructure provider.

Umami Analytics

Umami is an open-source analytics platform that is self-hosted, meaning all data remains on servers controlled by the website operator and is not shared with any third party. Umami collects page views, referrer information, browser type, operating system, device type, and country-level location derived from anonymised technical data.

Umami does not use cookies, does not track visitors across different websites, and does not collect any personal data such as names, email addresses, or IP addresses in identifiable form. IP addresses are hashed (one-way encrypted) before any data is recorded.

Legal basis for analytics

Analytics data is processed on the basis of legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) in understanding and improving the performance, content, and security of the site. Because neither tool uses cookies or collects personal data in identifiable form, a cookie consent banner is not required for analytics under current guidance from EU and UK data protection authorities.
